MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Philam Foundation, the corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm of Philam Life, recently bagged an award at the Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Awards (AREA) which culminated in an Awards Night at the Marriott Hotel earlier this month.
Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Awards is a regional recognition program to honor enterprises in the field of corporate responsibility. The Program serves as a platform to share, educate and further inspire others to effect positive change through worthy CSR initiatives. It is organized annually by Entreprise Asia, the region’s leading non-governmental organization for responsible entrepreneurship.
Philam Foundation emerged as an awardee in the Social Empowerment Category for the Philam Savings and Values Education Sessions (Philam SAVES) initiative. Kicked off in 2016 and rolled out in 2017, Philam SAVES is an effort to support the advocacy of financial literacy and savings awareness. Through its two-part module—story-telling and coin bank-designing session for students and the Financial Planning Session for parents and teacher—Philam SAVES aims to promote the value of saving and being thrifty to children and their parents.
“Being financially literate is the first step in achieving financial wellness, and this is why SAVES is very important to us. It allows us to address a very basic problem that, if given attention, can make a difference in the lives of so many people,” said Max Ventura, President of Philam Foundation. “To be recognized for something very close to our hearts inspires us to continue our mission of giving back to the community, and strengthens our commitment to contribute to nation building. This gives us additional cause for celebration on our 21st year anniversary,” he added.
